Biographies

Paullette MacDougal - Director

Paullette's plays have been staged widely in the U.S. and throughout the English-speaking world. An award-winning playwright, author and filmmaker, she holds an M.F.A. degree from Columbia University. She has performed in opera and musical comedy, as well as vocal recitals. Paullette has taught cinema studies at Drew University in New Jersey. and voice at Metropolitan College in Minneapolis. She is a member of The Dramatists Guild, Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas, and Austin Script Works. Her plays are published by Dramatic Publishing.


Dr. Charles R. Hill - Director

Dr. Charles R. Hill has been with the Paradox Players for about three years now....acting as a dramaturgy, director, and pianist for several shows including Bus Stop, The Oldest Profession, The Silver Whistle, Sleuth, and Avow. He hails originally from Kansas where he earned his Ph.D. in theatre arts at the University of Kansas. He retired in 1993 from ACC as department head of Speech and Drama. Having directed and acted in nearly 200 productions in a long and colorful career, he now serves on the board of the Paradox Players and is enjoying being called back into the fold. He is currently directing that wonderful old fashioned valentine called The Rainmaker and happy to be working with a great group of volunteers in this talented Community Theatre Company.

Karen Jambon - Director

Karen Jambon has directed and acted in many productions in Austin. Among her directing credits are "Fuddy Meers", "Betty's Summer Vacation", "Mrs. Bob Cratchit's WIld Christmas Binge" and "Playboy of the Western World' for Different Stages; "Marvin's Room", "Prisoner of Second Avenue" and "Danving at Lughnasa" for Sam Bass Theatre, and "Dearly Beloved" for Paradox Players. Recent acting credits include A in "Three Tall Women", Mame in "Auntie Mame", Olive in "Women of Lockerbie", and Rumplestiltskin. Karen has a master's degree in theatre and is on the board of Austin Circle of Theatres, Different Stages, and a founding member of North by Northwest Theatre Company.

Chris Jimmerson - Director

Chris Jimmerson was the Founding Artistic Director of Unhinged Productions and Associate Artistic director at Stages Repertory Theatre, both in Houston, Texas. He directed over 20 productions at theaters around Houston -- favorites include "The Maiden's Prayer", "Walking the Dead", "Pterodactyls" and "Stop Kiss". A few of his favorite acting roles were Man in "Laughing Wild", Icarus in "Icarus" and Ed in "Torch Song Trilogy". He appeared as File in "The Rainmaker" with Paradox Players. During the day, Chris serves as the Executive Director of Political Asylum Project of Austin, a non-profit organization that assists low-income immigrants through the legal immigration process.
