Shortly after the American Civil War, three women, a slave-holding abolitionist, her slave (who was a spy in the home of the President of the Confederacy), and the First Lady herself, divulge their complicated relationships and, inadvertently, their influence on the history of our country. The year 2012 is the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation. Directed by Gaia Furman

Auditioning for role of Harris in GUEST ARTIST, directed by Karen Jambon.
Harris is a 50 plus playwright who is convinced his best plays are behind him. He is cynical, articulate, and a dedicated drunk.
Scripts will be available for checkout week of July 18 onward, from the Paradox Players mailbox in the mailroom of the church, open M-F, 9-4. Please contact us at info@paradoxplayers.org if you need to make other arrangements for borrowing a script.
Rehearsals start Sept 6.
We meet monthly on the second Monday at 7:30pm to read aloud and trade roles in scripts that are unrehearsed. Newcomers are always welcome, no experience expected!

Roles available for 5 men playing ages 30–60, one woman playing 50-65.and one woman playing 25-35.
Show runs Feb 11-27; six rehearsals in early Dec.

Written by S.N. Behrman, this drawing room comedy set in 1932 explores the culture of celebrity. Marion Fourdes' Manhattan salon is a haven for the famous and infamous. When this independent portrait artist writes her autobiography, scandal is anticipated and panic ensues. As relevant today as it was 70 years ago!
Friday 6 November and Saturday 7 November, at 7:30pm
An exciting original cabaret show compiled by Dr. Charles R. Hill, will be the kick-off event for our 10th Anniversary Year . Staged in Howson Hall Theater, the audience will be seated at tables in nightclub style. A silent auction, after-dinner delectables and assorted beverages (wine, soft drinks) will complement the show.

In September, 2007, the B. Iden Payne Committee nominated Michelle Cheney for Best Actress in a Comedy for her portrayal of Honey Raye in our February, 2007 production of Dearly Beloved. Also nominated, for Best Ensemble acting, were Gary Payne as Andrew and Nathan Jerkin as Milo in our Sept, 2006 production of Sleuth. Nathan Jerkins was also nominated for Best Actor in a drama for the same role in Sleuth. Charles R. Hill was nominated by the Austin Critics Table for Best Director for the same production. Bobbie Erb was nominated for Best Actor in a Comedy by the Austin Circle of Theatres for her portrayal of Ursula in our June 2006 production of The Oldest Profession. Deneen Frazer was nominated for Best Lead Actor in a Drama for her portrayal of Annie in our November 2002 production of Waiting for MacArthur.
